What Is Facial Acupuncture?
Facial acupuncture is the insertion of fine acupuncture needles mainly at the face to stimulate blood and qi circulation to the face. This increased circulation brings about more oxygen and nutrient supply to the face, allowing better skin repair works and regeneration, leaving it supple and radiant.
Why Facial Acupuncture Can Treat My Skin Problems?
Common facial problems include facial wrinkles, pimples, enlarged pores, puffy face, dark eye circles, swollen eye bags, saggy cheeks, dull skin, pigmentation etc.
Facial acupuncture is able to alleviate the above complaints as it targets not only facial acupoints, but also the corresponding body acupoints.
Facial acupuncture stimulates cells to produce collagen and elastic fibres which helps reduce wrinkles, tighten pores, and firm cheeks in a long-run. Facial acupuncture also promotes local circulation which helps alleviate puffy face, swollen eye bags, and dark eye cycles.
Increased blood and qi circulation to the face also improves dull skin and pigmentation issues. In addition, both facial and body acupoints are also used to regulate body functions that are responsible for facial issues, such as “heat/dampness” accumulation that results in acne, or weak “spleen/kidney” which results in puffy face and eyelids.
How Is Facial Acupuncture Done?
You will first receive a TCM consultation with our aimin physician to understand your body constitution and identify any underlying cause(s) for your facial issues.
After the consultation, your aimin physician will administer facial acupuncture according to your facial issues. After sterilisation, very fine needles are inserted at corresponding acupoints at the face region (including the forehead, cheeks, around the eye and mouth region, etc) and also at a few body acupoints.
You might feel a slight prick at the beginning, which may then be followed by a sore sensation as the acupoints are being gently stimulated. The acupuncture needles will then be left to do its work for about 30 minutes, before being removed by your physician.
What Are The Benefits Of Facial Acupuncture?
Facial acupuncture helps improve overall skin complexion, reduce puffiness, lighten dark eye circles and skin pigmentations, reduce wrinkles, promote skin healing (scars/pimples), alleviate hormonal skin issues, improve skin tone and elasticity (tighten pores), and firms saggy skin.
Who Is Suitable To Try It?
Most people are suitable for facial acupuncture. However, cases of severe acne, skin infections, broken skin, and bleeding disorders should be avoided as facial acupuncture might aggravate the above conditions.
What Are The Side Effects?
Side effects of facial acupuncture are the same as that of acupuncture. In this case, possible side effect of bruising might be of concern. Extra handling care is taken especially for facial acupuncture during needling and needle removal; hence bruising is relatively uncommon for facial acupuncture.
What Is The Course Of Treatment?
