Fat Freeze
About Fat Freeze
Fat freezing, is a non-invasive fat reduction technique that involves freezing fat cells in order to eliminate them. The concept of using cold to reduce fat dates back to 1970, but Dr. Anderson and Dr. Manstein introduced cryolipolysis as a non-invasive method of fat reduction in 2007.
Fat freezing, also called cryolipolysis, is a safe and non-invasive method for reducing fat. Unlike surgery, anesthesia, or medication, it has no negative side effects. This technique employs a specialized instrument with a 360° cooling system that surrounds and cools the targeted area evenly. The process involves placing a probe on the skin, which uses vacuum pressure to grasp the underlying fat. Controlled freezing energy is then delivered to the area, causing fat cells to crystallize and eventually undergo natural cell death (apoptosis) over a span of 2-6 weeks. These dead fat cells are subsequently eliminated from the body through the lymphatic system and liver metabolism. The treatment can reduce fat layer thickness by 20%-27% in one session, achieving localized body sculpting without harming surrounding tissues. Importantly, cryolipolysis can lead to a permanent reduction in fat cells, with minimal chance of rebound.
Benefits
Non-Invasive
Fat freezing is a non-surgical procedure, which means it doesn’t require incisions, anaesthesia, or downtime. Patients can often resume their normal activities immediately after the treatment.
Localized Fat Reduction
Fat freezing is particularly effective at targeting specific areas of the body with stubborn fat deposits, such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, and chin.
Natural-Looking Results
The gradual nature of fat cell elimination allows for natural-looking results that develop over several weeks or months. This can help avoid the abrupt changes that can sometimes occur with surgical procedures.
No Scarring
Since the procedure is non-invasive, there is no risk of scarring or post-surgical marks.
Minimal Discomfort
Patients may experience some discomfort during the procedure due to the initial cold sensation, but the discomfort is generally mild and temporary.
